Frances Hocutt is the founding president of the Seattle Attic Community Workshop, Seattle’s first feminist hackerspace/makerspace. She prefers elegance in her science and effectiveness in her art and is happiest when drawing on as many disciplines as she can. A former chemist, Hocutt has recently jumped into F/OSS development with work around the MediaWiki web API and the Dreamwidth journalling platform. Her current passion is making it possible for other people to create the space, tools, and community that they need to turn the world around them into a place for them. She has taught at Seattle's Community Data Science Workshop, spoken at WikiConference USA, and keynoted for Open Source Bridge.
