Everyday devices are, more and more, connecting to the Internet, from obvious things like your DVR, to connected light bulbs, to unexpectedly connected kitchen appliances. Some of them are open source, easily managed, and fun to use. Some of them are connecting without your knowledge, with little concern for security or privacy. Most are somewhere in between. We'll discuss some examples, good, and bad, and try to find a good middle ground where you can be a nerd in a connected world, without sacrificing security and privacy.
