Privacy Policy

LinuxFest Northwest gathers personal information from people who register to attend. This information is ONLY used by the LFNW Organizers to improve future Fests.

What is personally identifiable information (PII)?

Your first & last name, email address, phone number, and organization are what we consider PII. This data is not shown on the website or at the fest without your consent. Your consent is given when you submit a presentation, sponsorship application, or check the 'show my details on the community page' box during registration. Simply registering for the fest does not allow us to publish any of your PII. If you believe your information is being shared without consent, please email us immediately.

Job Title, Gender, Location, T-shirt size, and dietary requirements are not considered PII when decoupled from any PII. (eg: First name + gender is PII, gender + t-shirt size is not)

How Does LFNW use my information?

The fields you fill out help us gather data important to improving the fest. From obtaining outside grants to making registration go faster, none of this could happen without metrics. We appricate the help our attendees give us by supplying data! However, personally identifable information is never shared with partners and is limited to only a few LFNW organizers.

What is your email policy?

LinuxFest Northwest will, from time to time, update current and past attendees about the Fest. Your email is not shared with any third party, and E-mails are sent using our implimentation of CivicCRM. If you wish to opt out of a mailing, click the link at the bottom of the email, and it should remove you from all further mailings.

Can Sponsors & Exhibitors use my information?

If other groups that participate in LinuxFest Northwest ask for information about attendees to improve their offering at LFNW, and we agree to share it, it will be only those demographics that are not identifiable to any individual. No PII, including E-mail, is shared with exhibitors by Fest staff.

Note that you can give your badge information to exhibitors if you're interested in getting more information about their products. That's voluntary, and LinuxFest Northwest does not participate in that information exchange.

Can I opt out entirely?

Attendees: LinuxFest Northwest does not require registration to attend the fest. One caveat. Due to Washington State Liquor laws, you will not be allowed to attend our social gatherings without a badge that matches your state issued photo ID.

Speakers / Sponsors / Volunteers: LinuxFest Northwest requires providers of services to be registered.
