Networking for linux geeks

When I started my career transition from linux sysadmin to network engineer, I thought I had a good understanding of networking: I knew  enough about ports and IPs to set up iptables or read an ethereal capture. I quickly learned that Networking is its own world within IT, with its own language and practices.

In this presentation, I will give you a glimpse into a universe that you rely on every day, but don't really understand. I'll come prepared to explain several intermediate-level concepts of internetworking: (eg dynamic routing protocols, HSRP/VRRP, access vs aggregration vs core,...). I'd like to make this presentation as much of an interactive Q&A as possible, so please bring your questions, or email them to me ahead of time at lfnw15@turbosphere.com

Note: I will not be covering intro-level information (ip addresses, ports, basic NIC config, what is DHCP,...)
