It is 2011, Mark Shuttleworth announces "that by Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu will support smartphones, tablets, TVs and smart screens" [1].

Fast Forward to May 2015, Ubuntu has released various supported developer platforms and commercially supported HW that run Ubuntu Touch. What is Ubuntu Touch however? Vaporware? Demoware? A product? And why does it matter in the mobile OS ecosystem, that is dominated by iOS & Android?

Olli Ries will present a brief history of Ubuntu Touch, describe the vision of device convergence, the challenges of competing with the best and how to move a Linux distribution onto a new era of personal computing.
